Funding Opportunities

Collaborations between Inria and in Berlin-based researchers can be supported through various funding schemes including, but not limited to, the opportunities listed below.

Associate Teams Funding

An Associate Team is a joint 3 years project created between a french-based Inria project-team and a partner research team from abroad. The two partners jointly define a scientific objective, a research plan and a program for bilateral exchanges. To promote and develop such scientific collaborations throughout the world, by supporting high quality research projects, Inria’s International Partnerships Department issues annual calls for proposals (opening in July and closing in September). An example of associate team via Inria Berlin is ARISE, which involves Inria Lille and WIAS Berlin. Another example is PSAR, which involved Inria Saclay and FU Berlin and paved the way for the TinyPART project.

Inria International Chairs

The program finances long-term visits for international renowned researchers collaborating closely with Inria Project Teams. Head to the Inria International Chairs webpage to know more about this funding scheme.

Postdoctoral Fellowships

The fellowship finances 12 to 24 months post-doctoral positions, whereas postdoc shares its time partly (typically half) in an Inria team and partly in the partner Berlin-based research institution. Take advantage of the close relationship between Inria and various international and industrial partner institutions while deepening your skills! Head to the postdoc webpage for more information.

Other Schemes for Co-Funding

At the institutional level, Inria Berlin is keen on developing new co-funding schemes in partnership with German research institutions, aiming to accelerate ambitious scientific research activities on jointly selected topics with expected high impact.
